About the position

The Parts Manager in Training at CarMax is a temporary role designed to equip newly hired external managers with the necessary skills and knowledge to transition into the Parts Manager position. This role involves completing a structured training program that covers essential duties such as managing parts inventory, ensuring customer satisfaction, and adhering to company policies and procedures. The position emphasizes the importance of effective communication, team engagement, and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all positions are properly staffed at all times
  • Manages all customer concerns in a quick, efficient, and friendly manner
  • Maintains adequate Parts Inventory levels in fast-moving Parts categories
  • Establishes vendor relationships for fast delivery, high quality, and low-cost parts
  • Ensures team uses the Parts Sourcing Job Aid when sourcing parts
  • Returns all obsolete and/or unused special-order parts in a timely manner
  • Adheres to all CarMax/government rules when managing EH&S records
  • Participates and ensures compliance of all CarMax Training and Process initiatives
  • Performs all Asset Protection and EH&S responsibilities expected in the role
  • Ensures positive associate engagement through consistent use of AC&C tools
  • Manages associate performance using MTI and performance management tools
  • Drives team and store performance in maintaining all department metric goals

Requirements

  • 1 Year of experience as a Manager or Automotive Technician preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, interpret and transcribe data to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to multi-task in a high energy, fast-paced work environment
  • Effective communication skills in speaking, listening, and writing
