About the position

The Parts Purchasing and Procurement Manager at Hudson County Motors is responsible for overseeing all purchasing activities for the dealership, ensuring that necessary parts and materials are procured efficiently. This role requires strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of supply chain management to optimize processes and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Procure necessary parts and materials.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure availability while minimizing excess stock.
  • Identify potential suppliers, assess their capabilities and reliability, and establish relationships with the best fit for the company's needs.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, quality standards, and payment conditions with suppliers.
  • Create and manage purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of parts.
  • Work with the inventory manager to monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts and overstocking.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize purchasing costs.
  • Ensure that procured parts meet quality specifications and standards.
  • Identify potential supply chain disruptions and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers to negotiate pricing and terms for purchasing parts.
  • Oversee the fabrication process of custom parts when required, ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions, inventory levels, and supplier communications.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in automotive and/or trucking is preferred.
  • Proven experience in procurement management or supply chain management is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on root cause analysis and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with production planning processes and systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process improvements within the department.
