About the position

The Parts Purchasing Specialist and Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Procurement Manager with strategic sourcing, supplier management, and project management within the automotive industry. This position involves negotiating with suppliers, managing procurement processes, and ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness in parts sourcing. The ideal candidate will have experience in procurement, particularly in a manufacturing or automotive context, and should be fluent in Korean to facilitate communication with headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Procurement Manager with strategic sourcing suppliers and issuing RFQs.
  • Evaluate commercial issues and negotiate with suppliers for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Establish new car sourcing plans and lead sourcing events.
  • Review and develop legal documentation such as RFQs, LOIs, and contracts with suppliers.
  • Analyze and clarify quote packages from suppliers and monitor procurement procedures.
  • Research and coordinate with potential suppliers as necessary.
  • Conduct detailed project plans and tactical execution for part development and implementation.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal customers to ensure on-time program deliverables.
  • Communicate regularly with upper management regarding project status and obtain guidance as required.
  • Lead suppliers to meet quality requirements and respond to supply shortages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry-specific experience required.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a Procurement role within a manufacturing/automotive industry preferred.
  • Experience working with Hyundai, Kia, or MOBIS is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial System Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement procedures and the Just In Sequence process in the automotive industry.
  • Fluency in Korean to communicate with Korean headquarters is required.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in automotive assembly/manufacturing processes such as injection, press, welding, paint, and assembly.
