About the position

The Parts Specialist is responsible for identifying the specific needs of customers and providing solutions that ensure profitability through total customer satisfaction. This role involves managing parts inventory, processing orders, and advising customers on parts and equipment functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Read catalogs, microfiche viewers, or computer displays to determine replacement part stock numbers and prices.
  • Determine replacement parts required based on inspections, customer requests, or descriptions of malfunctions.
  • Receive and fill telephone orders for parts.
  • Fill customer orders from stock and prepare parts counter tickets/slips.
  • Receive payment or obtain credit authorization for parts sold.
  • Take inventory of stock and advise customers on substitution or modification of parts when identical replacements are not available.
  • Examine returned parts for defects and exchange defective parts or refund money.
  • Mark and store parts in stockrooms according to prearranged systems.
  • Discuss the use and features of various parts based on knowledge of machines or equipment.
  • Demonstrate parts and functionality to customers.
  • Place new merchandise on display and measure parts using precision measuring instruments to determine if similar parts can be machined to required sizes.
  • Prepare parts for internal transfer between branches and distribute internal shuttle shipments on incoming parts transfers.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • One to two years of related experience
  • ERP experience preferred
