About the position

The Parts Technician at J.B. Hunt Transport is responsible for ensuring that parts are readily available for truck and trailer technicians to perform repairs. This role involves managing inventory levels, conducting audits, and processing orders to maintain an adequate supply of parts. The technician will also handle information systems related to parts management and may work outdoors or across various shifts, including nights and weekends, requiring full-time attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill parts requests by technicians and ensure parts are properly charged to the unit under repair
  • Observe all Company safety requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Mentor and train other shop personnel
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies
  • Maintain a clean, well-ordered work environment free of trash and hazards
  • Retain and ship parts per the Company’s Warranty Retention and Core Management procedures
  • Provide administrative support by copying and typing correspondence, maintaining records and filing
  • Maintain JBHT information systems regarding parts receipts, shipments, inventories, and usage
  • Ensure each unit has the required inventory of equipment to determine usability and replacement of non-functional equipment
  • Conduct Cycle Counts and periodic inventories as required
  • Receive inbound shipments of parts and fuel to ensure proper quantity ordered and free of damage; stock inbound parts to proper storage location and update information systems

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 12 to 18 months of direct experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
