About the position

The Passive Thermal Control Design Engineer or CPE at Mathematical Research Inc. (MRI) is responsible for supporting the Orion PTC team in updating and completing drawings for passive thermal control hardware. This role is crucial for the timely and accurate documentation of thermal blankets, heaters, and MMOD components, contributing to the Orion program's surge efforts. Candidates can apply for both full-time and part-time positions, and the role requires proficiency in CREO software and familiarity with the Orion Drawing release process.

Responsibilities

  • Update and complete drawings for passive thermal control hardware, including thermal blankets, heaters, and MMOD components.
  • Utilize CREO to design and revise PTC-related components.
  • Follow the Orion Drawing release process to ensure timely and accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Proficiency with CREO software for design and drawing updates.
  • Experience with passive thermal control hardware, including blankets, MLI (multi-layer insulation), and MMOD.
  • Familiarity with the Orion Drawing release process.

Nice-to-haves

  • Extensive knowledge of the Orion Drawing release process.
  • Experience with heaters, thermal preparations, and ATLO (Assembly, Test, and Launch Operations).
  • Experience working with NASA contracts.
