About the position

The Pastor of Congregational Care and Outreach at First Institutional Baptist Church (FIBC) is responsible for developing and sustaining various ministries aimed at supporting congregational health and executing strategic evangelism efforts. This role focuses on providing support to families in crisis and fostering a culture of discipleship and outreach within the church community.

Responsibilities

  • Shaping strategy and casting vision for comprehensive, holistic discipleship and evangelistic efforts.
  • Developing and maintaining a process for receiving and involving new members in the life of our congregation.
  • Leading, supporting, and developing ministries to assist in the care of the congregation at large as they deal with life issues, including doing and coordinating sick visitations.
  • Recruiting and developing decision counselors.
  • Recruiting and developing volunteers and lay leaders in the work of shepherding and congregational care.
  • Assessing, refining, and developing ministries/events/programs/Bible study and other classes that develop disciples.
  • Providing all congregants with opportunities to understand why they should evangelize and offer them various forms of training to evangelize.
  • Recruiting and developing volunteers and lay leaders in the work of evangelistic outreach.
  • Designing and developing processes and systems to reach non-attendees and first-time visitors, as well as enfolding new attendees and regular attendees into the life of our congregation.
  • Preparing, monitoring, and controlling the annual congregational care and outreach budget.
  • Other pastoral-related assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Christian theology and/or ministry.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience within a church or faith-based organization.
  • Spiritual gifts of leadership, shepherding, evangelism, and hospitality.
