About the position
The Engineering Patent Agent will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the electrical and mechanical fields. This role is crucial for protecting intellectual property and requires a strong technical background along with legal expertise in patent law.
Responsibilities
- Draft original patent applications in the electrical and mechanical arts.
- Prosecute pending patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Collaborate with inventors to understand and document their inventions.
- Conduct patent searches and analyze prior art to assess patentability.
- Provide legal advice on patent strategy and portfolio management.
Requirements
- A minimum of two years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
- A degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or equivalent technical experience.
- Licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a patent agent.
