About the position

Fish & Richardson, the premier global intellectual property law firm, is seeking a Patent Paralegal to join its Washington, D.C. team within the fast-paced Practice Systems Department. As a Patent Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting the patent prosecution process by accurately preparing, obtaining, and filing documents related to all phases of patent prosecution. This includes requests for client instructions, assignments, information disclosure statements, and responses to office actions. You will also be responsible for maintaining and managing a prosecution docket, ensuring that all due dates and deadlines are met, and accounting for all hours worked by entering time into the firm's timekeeping system to achieve the billable goal established by practice management. In this role, you will be expected to work collaboratively with other team members, demonstrating a willingness to assist when needed. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential, as well as excellent interpersonal skills. The position requires you to work in the office for a minimum of three days per month for training and collaboration purposes. Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare, obtain, and file documents related to all phases of patent prosecution.
  • Maintain and manage a prosecution docket and follow up on items to ensure due dates and deadlines are met.
  • Account for all hours worked on a daily basis by entering time into the firm's timekeeping system to achieve the billable goal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA recognized program or equivalent experience in legal support.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Patent Paralegal with U.S. and/or foreign prosecution knowledge, or equivalent legal experience.
  • Willingness to assist other team members when needed and ability to work well within a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
