About the position

The Patent Prosecution Paralegal will be responsible for managing patent documents and maintaining client relationships while working closely with attorneys and legal assistants. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of US Patent Prosecution and the ability to efficiently handle various paralegal tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, prepare, and file patent documents with the USPTO
  • Maintain and update client files, including applications, responses, and filings with the USPTO
  • Handle IDS submissions and maintain their records
  • Obtain file histories, document translations, and non-patent prior art
  • Oversee patent prosecution dockets, keep track of docket dates, and prioritize tasks accordingly
  • Prepare necessary legal forms such as declarations, power of attorney forms, and foreign filing instructions
  • Communicate professionally with the USPTO, clients, and foreign associates
  • Foster strong relationships with clients while handling confidential information
  • Mentor and train junior paralegals and legal assistants
  • Understand and utilize USPTO Filings, USPTO Searches, Patent Application, Patent Preparation, and U.S. Patent skills effectively.

Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in patent prosecution.
  • Proficiency in USPTO Filings is required.
  • Familiarity with PCT and international prosecution, a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Prior experience working directly with clients, in a paralegal capacity.
