About the position

The Patient Access Associate I Pre Access Specialist at Intermountain Healthcare is responsible for managing billing, follow-up, and resolving issues that may delay or prevent payment of patient accounts. This role involves coordinating patient encounters using various systems, ensuring accurate registration, and communicating financial responsibilities to patients prior to their service dates.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient encounters utilizing multiple system applications including registration applications and clinical operating systems.
  • Identify copays and deductibles, and communicate patient financial responsibilities prior to the date of service.
  • Coordinate self-pay patient flow to Financial Counselors or eligibility vendors for public benefits identification.
  • Review and audit input for accuracy in patient type, financial class, and insurance codes.
  • Demonstrate understanding and application of registration policies and procedures.
  • Remain flexible in scheduling to meet departmental needs.
  • Meet productivity and quality measures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in acute care, medical office, or insurance, required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, required.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, required.
  • CHAA (Certified Health Access Associate), preferred.
