About the position

The Patient Access Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring that each registered patient has a complete and accurate medical record at OSF HealthCare. This position involves collecting and verifying patient demographics, insurance coverage, and financial responsibilities while providing excellent customer service to create a positive first impression. The role requires strong problem-solving skills to navigate complex situations in a multi-payer environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure each registered patient has a complete and accurate medical record.
• Collect and verify patient demographics and insurance coverage.
• Communicate financial responsibilities to patients clearly.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients and families, both in person and over the phone.
• Utilize deductive reasoning and logic to solve issues that arise in a multi-payer situation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
• Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation.
• Strong problem-solving, conflict management, and time management skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Completion of all role-specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.

Nice-to-haves

• Three years of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
• Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.
• Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
