About the position

The Patient Access Manager at Riverside Medical Center is responsible for overseeing patient access operations, including registration, scheduling, and financial counseling. This role involves collaboration with various departments to ensure efficient processes, compliance with regulations, and continuous improvement in patient access services. The manager will mentor staff, manage departmental performance, and ensure patient satisfaction while upholding the organization's vision and values.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee departmental records data and processes to maintain an accurate historical patient database.
  • Collaborate with the Director to recommend and develop policies and procedures for Patient Access and registration.
  • Ensure staff accurately collects and analyzes required demographic, insurance, and clinical data for patient registration.
  • Monitor compliance with regulations such as EMTALA and HIPAA, and provide education to staff on gaps identified.
  • Mentor and develop direct reports and staff, providing ongoing feedback for growth and performance management.
  • Manage departmental expenses and operational budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Review and approve time cards for direct reports and monitor timekeeping for all locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health or business administration or related field required within 5 years of hire.
  • Master's degree in health care, business administration or related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of medical practice or office management experience, including at least two years in a healthcare organization.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in medical terminology preferred.
  • Effective leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare organization is preferred.
  • Office or clerical experience is preferred.
