About the position

The Registration and Scheduling Coordinator at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center plays a crucial role in ensuring quality patient care through effective scheduling and registration processes. This position involves managing appointments, verifying insurance, and providing essential information to patients and clinical staff, contributing to a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedule return and other appointments as assigned.
• Gather accurate appointment, demographic, and insurance information to support clinical and financial needs.
• Provide support to physicians and consumers by coordinating their requests.
• Solve routine and complex customer problems and instruct them on where to address specific questions.
• Communicate regularly with clinical staff and medical secretaries to ensure customer and department staff needs are met.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of six months of experience in customer service or a healthcare environment is required.
• PC knowledge and strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are recommended.
• Experience with Windows, Excel, and Intranet/internet navigation tools is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, coding, and third-party reimbursement is preferred.
• Ability to work in multiple systems for assigned tasks, management, and reporting is required.
• Strong problem-solving and presentation skills are necessary.
• High level of customer service skills is essential.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a lively environment is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding is preferred.
