About the position

The Patient Access Representative at Jobs Peak Primary serves as the primary point of contact for patients, managing incoming calls, scheduling appointments, and assisting with patient inquiries. This role is essential in ensuring smooth communication between patients and the healthcare team, while also maintaining accurate records and facilitating referrals and authorizations.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming telephone calls and triage patient inquiries.
  • Assess the level of need for each patient call and direct or assist in providing solutions.
  • Make follow-up phone calls as necessary to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Work collaboratively with Medical Assistants and physicians to resolve patient issues.
  • Document all interactions in the patient electronic medical record.
  • Schedule new and existing patient visits and assist in preparing patients for their appointments.
  • Mail necessary forms to patients prior to their visits and make reminder calls as appropriate.
  • Ensure all encounter forms are completed and coding is accurate at the time of service.
  • Post payments from patients and third-party payers to the EMR and collect copays.
  • Obtain necessary authorizations from insurance companies for procedures and tests.
  • Schedule referrals and notify patients accordingly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous customer service experience is essential.
  • Strong reading, writing, organizing, and filing skills.
  • Professional phone etiquette and customer service skills.
  • Computer and word processing skills are necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
