About The Position

The Patient Access Representative at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital is responsible for greeting, pre-registering, and registering patients in a professional manner. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one (1) year experience in insurance verification and medical office/hospital customer service.
• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients in a courteous and professional manner.
• Verify insurance benefits and check for pre-certification, authorization, and referral requirements.
• Perform medical necessity checks as needed.
• Secure patient signatures for required hospital forms.
• Collect patient's financial responsibility when required.
• Provide professional customer service and timely resolution to customer problems.
• Communicate revenue cycle related issues to patients, physicians, and hospital colleagues.
