About the position

The position involves providing support to the Allina Health account as part of Optum. The primary focus is on greeting and welcoming patients, managing the registration process, and ensuring a smooth check-in experience. This role is crucial in connecting patients with the necessary care and resources, ultimately contributing to improved health outcomes and advancing health equity.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes patients in person
• Collects demographic and insurance information
• Checks in or interviews patients to complete appropriate paperwork
• Directs patients to their appointment or procedure
• May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
• Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results
• Obtains signatures from patients as needed
• Collects co-pay or deductibles and responds to questions regarding financial assistance programs available
• Refers complex questions as needed
• Uses resources, tools, and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues
• Assists patients in completion of request for information forms and submits to appropriate department
• May gather medical record information from all departments for collection

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• 6 months of customer service experience in an office/hospital setting
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Ability to work 8-hour shifts starting at either 7:00pm or 10:00pm
• Ability to work every other weekend starting at either 7:00pm or 10:00pm
• Ability to attend onsite training (paid) for first 3 weeks, within standard daytime hours
