About the position

Rivers Health is looking for a full-time Patient Access Representative to support patient treatment in the office while managing administrative and nursing duties related to patient care. The role is essential for maintaining high-quality care within the office setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general receptionist duties, including greeting patients, answering telephones, and scheduling appointments.
  • Ensure all patients are registered in the correct status in a timely manner.
  • Monitor the waiting room to ensure all patients are addressed promptly.
  • Distribute all orders and prescriptions correctly using two patient identifiers.
  • Scan patient documents and type correspondence, reports, memos, forms, and transcription of medical notes.
  • Process referrals by gathering documentation, making appointments, and notifying patients as required by the referred facility/provider.
  • Follow up on referrals to ensure patients have completed their visits and retrieve documentation for review by the ordering provider.
  • Prepare cash receipts for transport to the Central Billing Office (CBO).
  • Sort and distribute mail and process forms sent to the clinic.
  • Maintain current and accurate demographic information on all patient guarantors.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies necessary for job duties.
  • Adhere to corporate policies, JCAHO, Rural Health, departmental policies and procedures, and the personnel employee handbook.
  • Demonstrate excellence in customer service, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Foster an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Fill in during co-workers' absences and cover other personnel as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • One year of experience in a provider office or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, coordinate, motivate, and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to recognize the unique needs of patients of all ages, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatrics.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills based on situational assessment.
  • Good inductive and deductive reasoning skills.
