About the position
The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and timely registration and admission process for patients at McLaren Health Care. This position involves interacting with patients, collecting necessary information, and managing financial obligations while adhering to compliance guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Perform registration and financial functions via Electronic Medical Record (EMR) accurately and efficiently.
- Greet customers promptly with a warm and friendly reception.
- Collect, document, and scan all required demographic and financial information.
- Direct patients to the appropriate setting, explaining and apologizing for any delays.
- Maintain professionalism and diplomacy according to department standards.
- Estimate and collect copays, deductibles, and other patient financial obligations.
- Manage responsibilities within compliance guidelines as outlined in the Hospital and Department Compliance Plans.
- Facilitate the use of electronic registration tools where available.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-year experience in a customer service role or health care industry.
Nice-to-haves
- Working knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, Cerner, EPIC or other EMR systems.
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
