About the position

The Patient Access Representative (PAR) at Ocean Health Initiatives is responsible for all patient registration, accurate documentation and data entry, financially related data collection, and maximizing productivity. Reporting to the Regional Practice Director and Practice Site Coordinators, the PAR plays a key role in enhancing the overall patient experience by maintaining a high level of customer service during patient visits. This position requires in-person attendance as it is not a remote role. Candidates must be able to commit to a schedule of four, ten-hour shifts starting in January 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with patients, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Demonstrates a professional demeanor when engaging patients and visitors.
  • Engages all staff and patients with a positive approach.
  • Maintains an organized and efficient flow of patients from registration to discharge.
  • Pre-registers patients for appointments and confirms details.
  • Obtains necessary consents and screens patients for eligibility programs.
  • Completes Household Assessments for all patients, ensuring all documents are collected.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and updates patient information as needed.
  • Accurately completes data entry in required systems.
  • Collects co-pays and fees, ensuring proper reconciliation of payments.
  • Registers patients for the EMR patient portal and encourages usage.
  • Participates in quality initiatives and assists walk-in patients.
  • Scans and organizes patient documents as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One to three years of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • One to two years' experience using an EMR system is preferred.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 is required.
