About the position

The Patient Access Representative, Scheduler is a vital role at Boone Health, serving as the first point of contact for patients. This position requires a high standard of customer service and compassion, ensuring that all patient interactions align with the organization's mission and values. The representative will facilitate patient entry into Boone Health facilities, manage demographic and insurance information, and contribute to maximizing reimbursements while minimizing denials.

Responsibilities

• Utilize critical thinking skills to assess and respond to a variety of situations, anticipating patients' needs.
• Communicate in a professional, positive, and patient-focused manner with all patients, families, and co-workers.
• Perform hospital registration and scheduling within multiple Boone Health systems.
• Assure proper patient identification and register, schedule, and verify insurance.
• Scan and retrieve documents within multiple Boone Health systems.
• Validate that the order is complete, signed by the ordering provider, and the correct test is ordered.
• Provide patients with preparation instructions for scheduled procedures and educate them on financial responsibilities.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP), HIPAA Privacy Standards, and other regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• No experience required
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to maintain knowledge of insurance carriers and Medicare guidelines.

• CHAA License/Certification
