About The Position

The Patient Access Representative at Sanford Health plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service to patients, serving as the first point of contact in the clinic. The role is essential in creating a welcoming environment and managing various administrative tasks related to patient registration and scheduling.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post-secondary education helpful.
  • One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Medical terminology knowledge is helpful; customer service skills are essential.
  • Six months of customer service experience desired.
  • May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and verify demographics.
  • Create, scan, and route documents or electronic forms.
  • Inform patients about documents and capture signatures on necessary paperwork.
  • Establish and assign financial responsibility and assist with arrangements while adhering to appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Collect co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances.
  • Work with nursing team and providers to coordinate and schedule appointments to meet patients' needs.
  • Obtain and coordinate referrals and conduct pre-authorization.
  • Arrange interpreter services and check patients in/out.
  • Operate multi-line phone and resolve work queue issues.
  • Prepare and coordinate charts and organize supporting provider documents.
  • Initiate and collaborate on patient financial assistance and track patient visits.
  • Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments.
  • Coordinate Telemed appointments and make reminder calls for appointments.
  • Handle hospital admissions and perform office duties such as making copies or sending faxes.
