About the position

The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth patient experience by managing the check-in and check-out processes at a medical clinic. This position involves verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate patient records while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all patients in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of customer service principles and departmental expectations.
  • Check for previous balances and payment history.
  • Collect co-payments, deductibles, or co-insurance from patients.
  • Assist Business Office collectors with collecting old balances.
  • Work with physician office staff regarding patient benefits not accepted at the facility.
  • Perform insurance verification for patients.
  • Calculate patient payments according to benefits.
  • Post payments to patient accounts accurately and timely.
  • Balance out cash drawer daily.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a medical office, registration, or collections.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Professional maturity, responsibility, dependability, flexibility, intelligence, energy, and organization.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
