About the position

The Patient Access Scheduling Representative plays a crucial role in scheduling patients for various facility services based on physician orders. This position requires a developing knowledge of scheduling processes and involves routine assignments within established guidelines. The representative is responsible for managing patient data, obtaining authorizations, and ensuring that all necessary information is accurately recorded and communicated.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule patients for facility services based on physician orders.
  • Take telephone requests for authorizations and prepare referral requests.
  • Obtain authorizations and collect patient data.
  • Maintain responsibility for obtaining pre-defined data and completing the scheduling process in the computer system.
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts and cancel/revise appointments based on requests.
  • Provide patients with necessary instructions regarding preparation, timing, and location of exams.
  • Maintain electronic health record (EHR) referral documentation reflecting actions on specific referrals.
  • Track referral patient compliance and communicate with referring providers as necessary.
  • Select the correct patient and service/exam, ensuring orders and required authorizations are in place.
  • Collect clinical data under facility direction to ensure tests are appropriate.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's/Technical degree in business preferred or equivalent combination of education/related experience.
