About the position

The Patient Access Sr Manager is responsible for overseeing the management and daily operations of designated registration areas within a healthcare facility. This role focuses on ensuring superior customer service, managing department schedules, and fostering the growth and development of team members. The position plays a crucial role in patient financial services, including registration, insurance verification, and financial counseling, while also engaging in process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management and daily operations of designated registration areas.
  • Ensure the team provides superior customer service and meets key performance indicators.
  • Manage department schedules and partner with internal and external customers.
  • Mentor and develop leaders and team members by providing routine feedback and clear development goals.
  • Maximize cash flow by maintaining protocols for financial management of patient accounts.
  • Develop and adhere to the annual departmental budget and prepare staffing schedules.
  • Provide effective leadership and education to staff to meet accuracy, compliance, and productivity goals.
  • Engage in process improvement and update work processes as needed.
  • Ensure proper onboarding and training of new hires, maintaining performance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Extensive experience in hospital registration and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Advanced mathematical skills and knowledge of managed care contracts and third-party payors.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and resolve problems effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and proficiency in common office software.
  • Effective human relations and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CHAM certification preferred.
  • Strong abilities in patient financial services database use and reporting.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
