About the position

The Patient Account Representative II at Northwest Medical Specialties, PLLC is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely entry of medical visits into the billing system. This role requires familiarity with medical coding, terminology, and compliance with various billing guidelines. The representative will also handle denied claims, unpaid claims, and ensure that all documentation is complete before submission.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure successful entry of all medical visits into the billing system in a compliant and timely manner.
  • Review charge entry and make appropriate coding changes as necessary per AMA and payer policies.
  • Ensure treatment and dispensing documentation is complete and accurate prior to submitting claims.
  • Resolve billing-related questions ensuring proper billing guidelines are met.
  • Research, resolve, and resubmit unpaid claims.
  • Review and resolve claim denials.
  • Retrieve daily electronic remittance files from the clearinghouse or carrier as appropriate.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in the Medical Billing field.
  • Experience with medical insurance claim follow-up.
  • Understanding of clinic operations related to patient registration, referrals, and cash collections.
  • Intermediate to expert computer skills including Windows programs and database applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Billing Specialist, CPC or Oncology certification.
