About the position
The Patient Accounts Biller is a key member of the Finance/Billing team at Golden Valley Health Centers, responsible for ensuring maximum reimbursement through accurate billing and coding of services rendered. This full-time position involves scanning and keying charges, maintaining compliance with coding guidelines, and working under the supervision of the Patient Accounts Manager. The role is based at the Atwater Administrative site and operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Responsibilities
- Ensure maximum reimbursement through accurate billing and coding for all services rendered.
- Scan and key all charges accurately.
- Log incoming scantrons in the 'Scantron Received' database to monitor encounter timeliness.
- Prepare and sort scantrons prior to scanning, ensuring proper alignment and compliance.
- Demonstrate competency in CPT coding guidelines and proper use of modifiers.
- Utilize ICD-9 coding accurately, including V-codes and E-codes.
- Proof and post daily batch entries to ensure accuracy.
- Complete end-of-month data entry to ensure timely month closure.
- Process Medicare/Medi-cal crossover claims for submission to payers.
- Prepare and distribute CHDP PA160's and other special program claims.
- Assist in processing dental insurance claims and invalid insurance claims.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in office/medical billing, including at least 1 year as a Patient Accounts Representative or equivalent.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required for some positions.
- Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and ICD-9 coding.
