About the position

The Patient Accounts Representative at Silver Hill Hospital plays a crucial role in managing the coding processes and ensuring compliance with billing regulations. This position is integral to the revenue cycle management, focusing on accurate coding, billing assessments, and maintaining excellent customer service with patients. The representative will work closely with the Revenue Cycle Manager and participate in the development of policies and procedures related to billing and coding.

Responsibilities

  • Review billing and coding to ensure compliance with legal requirements and standards.
  • Review electronic health records (EHR) for appropriate coding information.
  • Participate in clinic billing and coding assessments/audits, both internal and external.
  • Assist in the development of billing and coding policies and procedures.
  • Identify key issues to ensure revenue maximization on individual accounts.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is on file and properly filled out for patients.
  • Achieve compliance with Federal, State, and third-party billing regulations.
  • Implement changes directed by regulatory agencies.
  • Assist patients with billing concerns and complaints.
  • Promote and maintain excellent customer service with patients.
  • Assist with month-end reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
  • 5-7 years of clinic finance experience, including 3-5 years of accounts receivable experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers required.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and medical terminology required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State guidelines, managed care contracting, and credit and collection policies.
