The Patient Accounts Specialist role at Ohio's Hospice is a full-time remote position focused on billing insurance plans, collecting outstanding account receivables, and ensuring compliance with timely filing requirements. The specialist will handle various billing tasks, including reporting spend downs to Medicaid and ensuring timely payments and collections. This position is essential for maintaining the financial health of the organization while providing support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Bill all insurance plans within timely filing requirements.
  • Collect all outstanding account receivables.
  • Report all spend downs to Medicaid.
  • Submit notice of elections ensuring timely payment.
  • Handle collections and follow up on accounts.

Requirements

  • Preferred associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of basic math skills to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Maintain knowledge of all federal and state regulations and timely filing restrictions of all insurance plans.
  • Knowledge of insurance terminology to resolve billing issues and coordination of benefits.
