About the position

The Patient Accounts Specialist at LRADAC plays a crucial role in providing administrative and operational support within the organization. This position involves assisting with patient admissions, conducting HIV testing, and educating individuals about substance use disorders and HIV risk reduction. The specialist will work under the supervision of the POE Manager and the VP of Clinical Services, contributing to innovative programs aimed at improving lives and communities affected by addiction and drug misuse.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing the point of entry for patients, including greeting and verifying identity.
• Accurately enter patient information into the electronic health record system.
• Update the assessment center schedule to ensure timely patient processing.
• Answer patient inquiries regarding the admission process or refer them to appropriate staff.
• Explain legal consents and program forms during the intake process and obtain necessary signatures.
• Obtain and verify insurance information for patients with third-party coverage.
• Cover the front desk as needed and process financial assessments.
• Provide telephone coverage and document calls accurately.
• Process financial assessment applications for grants and financial assistance programs.
• Cover the patient accounts window, collecting and logging payments, and handling billing inquiries.
• Conduct pre- and post-test education/counseling sessions regarding HIV transmission and risk reduction.
• Conduct rapid HIV testing and link individuals who test positive to medical care.
• Complete documentation associated with testing activities in accordance with LRADAC and DHEC standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Work experience directly related to the area of employment.
• Proficiency in facilitating rapid HIV testing as defined by DHEC.
