About The Position

The Patient Advocate plays a crucial role in coordinating activities to ensure that patients receive eligible funding for healthcare services, including Medicaid and social security. This position involves assisting patients with paperwork, managing caseloads, and maintaining confidentiality while working effectively with diverse groups. The role requires strong communication, organizational, and administrative skills, and is based onsite in Riverdale, GA, with a work schedule from Tuesday to Saturday.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Six months to one year of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-guided worker with customer service experience.
  • Leadership and diplomacy skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and design workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare or patient advocacy roles.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid and social security processes.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in completing forms and applications for healthcare services funding.
  • Collect and review patient information to determine eligibility for services.
  • Prepare and review documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding agency issues and services.
  • Maintain and create files or record-keeping systems.
  • Sort, label, file, and retrieve documents and materials.
  • Ensure adequate documentation is maintained for all cases.
  • Manage a caseload of patients and communicate designated reports.
  • Maintain a database of patient information and services provided.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with hospital staff.
  • Respect confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Work effectively with diverse groups and demonstrate effective communication skills.
