About the position

The Patient Advocate position at Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is designed to assist uninsured hospital patients in accessing programs that cover their medical expenses. This role serves as a vital link between patients, hospital facilities, and government agencies, ensuring that patients receive the necessary support and guidance throughout the application process for medical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Screen uninsured hospital patients to determine eligibility for medical or disability assistance programs.
  • Complete applications and follow through until approval.
  • Document all cases accurately and timely in company and hospital systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and hospital staff.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on relevant regulations and processes.
  • Maintain a work queue of patient accounts and ensure timely follow-ups.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, and financial counselors.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing calls related to patient applications and renewals.
  • Assist applicants in gathering necessary documentation and arranging transportation if needed.
  • Inform clients of approvals and denials of coverage in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior hospital experience preferred.
  • Experience with state and federal programs.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to navigate the hospital environment for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

  • Experience in a hospital setting.
  • Familiarity with government assistance programs.
