About the position

The position is responsible for providing essential support to clinicians, focusing on patient registration, appointment scheduling, and benefits assistance. This role is crucial for ensuring timely and accurate registration and review of patients' insurance eligibility and necessary documentation, while also serving as a backup for patient intake at outreach sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review insurance eligibility for all patients presenting for scheduled appointments or walk-ins to provide benefits assistance and process documentation.
  • Enter all insurance and demographic information into assigned databases accurately and timely.
  • Complete the Medicare Secondary Payer form for all patients with Medicare upon admission in a timely manner.
  • Refer patients to the benefits coordinator if their benefits have been pended or terminated.
  • Complete MassHealth/Free care applications and any other necessary applications for patients.
  • Create an MSI tracking number for each patient being registered to establish a medical record in the EMR system.
  • Update registration records for each patient regarding benefits information.
  • Serve as backup to the Clinic Coordinator, covering the front desk in their absence and assisting with front desk calls.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of P.C. spreadsheet software (Excel) and familiarity with Epic, MMIS, and NEHEN patient eligibility system.
  • 2 years of benefits experience in a clinical environment preferred.
  • Ability to work successfully with indirect supervision.
