About the position

The Patient Care and Administrative Clinic Coordinator for Neurology at UTHealth is responsible for overseeing clinic operations, ensuring quality improvement, and providing paramedical support. This role involves mentoring staff, managing clinic records, and ensuring compliance with regulations while supporting physicians in patient care activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist management in overseeing clinic operations and mentoring employees as a quality improvement coordinator.
  • Ensure accurate completion of registration and monitor reports for data integrity and accuracy.
  • Handle escalated issues and schedule staff while providing training and education.
  • Make administrative decisions based on knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee maintenance of office records including patients, billings, personnel, and inventory.
  • Order and stock clinic supplies and maintain diagnostic testing equipment.
  • Develop knowledge of patient population and physician relationships to align operations with strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate performance levels of the unit and individuals, defining expectations and measurement tools.
  • Support educational programs to promote staff competency and monitor quality improvement efforts.
  • Provide medical staff support for EHR and assist physicians with examinations and patient screenings.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree required, with equivalent years of experience substitutable for education.
  • Five years of hospital/healthcare/medical business office experience required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical Coding Certification preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
