About the position

The Patient Care and Prevention Specialist at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is a vital role within the Center of Excellence for HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases. This position focuses on providing compassionate care to HIV-infected and at-risk patients, ensuring their needs are met through effective clinic operations and patient management. The specialist will prepare patient information, handle essential data, administer injections, and maintain medical records with confidentiality and precision.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient information for clinic visits.
  • Gather and handle essential patient data.
  • Staff patient clinics to ensure smooth operations.
  • Administer injections as needed.
  • Manage medical records with precision and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with AAMA certification, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of accepted nursing standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of basic pharmacology.
  • Ability to utilize EHR systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, supervisors, providers, and staff.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient data responsibly.
  • Ability to conduct oneself professionally.
  • Ability to maintain quality measures, pay attention to details, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
