The Patient Care Assistant (PtCA) plays a crucial role in delivering direct, non-licensed patient care under the supervision of qualified personnel. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the comfort and safety of patients during their visits. The PtCA will work rotating 8-hour shifts between 7 AM and 7 PM, with no weekend or holiday shifts required, and no on-call duties. The primary focus of this role is to assist with patient care, manage supplies, and maintain a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff. In terms of patient care, the PtCA will be responsible for rooming patients for office visits, weighing them, taking and charting vital signs, and assisting with various procedures. The role also includes answering patient call lights, providing personal hygiene assistance, and ensuring that patients are comfortable and safe during their stay. The PtCA will document patient information accurately and report any unusual situations or changes in patient conditions to the responsible nursing staff. Additionally, the PtCA will assist with admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, ensuring a smooth transition for patients. The PtCA will also be involved in environment management, which includes cleaning tasks that adhere to OSHA standards, maintaining the appearance of patient care areas, and ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and inventoried. Supply management is another key responsibility, where the PtCA will order and stock supplies as needed, demonstrating an awareness of cost containment practices. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and staff, acting as a patient advocate and resolving any concerns that may arise.
