About the position

The Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) is an unlicensed caregiver role at Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center, responsible for providing basic patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This position emphasizes patient data collection, personal hygiene assistance, and support with daily living activities. The PCA I plays a crucial role in facilitating patient care and ensuring a safe environment, while also collaborating with healthcare team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Safely and competently perform assigned duties in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with the Registered Nurse and other healthcare team members.
• Collect and document patient information in the electronic medical record, notifying the Registered Nurse of any changes in the patient's condition.
• Maintain patient privacy rights and confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families.
• Demonstrate tact, sensitivity, and discretion in all interactions.
• Integrate knowledge of job-specific competencies and proper equipment use.
• Arrive at work on time and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Interact positively and constructively with others.
• Prioritize and multitask effectively.

Requirements

• Basic computer knowledge preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of recent Acute Care experience preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate or one (1) year nursing assistant experience, or currently enrolled in a Nursing Program with at least one semester completed preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalency required.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Card required.
