About the position
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in the Med/Surg department provides essential direct and non-direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role is crucial in addressing the unique needs of patients and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist with daily living activities for patients.
- Monitor and report changes in patient conditions to nursing staff.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 1 year of experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) or PCT (Patient Care Technician) certification in state of practice preferred.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required within 30 days of hire.
