About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Mercy Perrysburg Hospital is responsible for providing basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. This role focuses on enhancing patient well-being through compassionate care, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with daily activities, all while ensuring a high level of customer service and effective communication with patients and their families.

Requirements

• BLS Basic Life Support certification (preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care).
• Successful completion of a nursing aide training program or equivalent certification (STNA, CNA, etc.).
• 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility.
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care, and hygiene.
• Assists patients with mobility and encourages independence in completing tasks.
• Acts as a liaison between patients and nurses to report changes or concerns.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely when applicable.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient needs.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
• Mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques.
