About the position

The Patient Care Assistant - Pediatric role at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This position is essential in supporting the care of medically ill acute or sub-acute pediatric patients, ensuring their comfort and safety while assisting with daily living activities and monitoring their health status.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Observe and report changes in the behavior and physical status of patients.
• Provide a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral care.
• Promote and maintain patient mobility through ambulation, transferring, and positioning.
• Assist patients with nutrition and hydration needs, including feeding and drinking.
• Support toileting and elimination needs, including catheter care and assistance with bedpans.
• Gather data and recognize abnormal findings by measuring and recording vital signs and other health metrics.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required prior to performing patient care.
• Minimum experience for float pool assignments is six (6) months.

Nice-to-haves

• One (1) year of job-related experience preferred.
