About the position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Mayo Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting nursing staff by assisting with both direct and indirect patient care tasks. This position is designed for individuals who are committed to providing high-quality care in a dynamic healthcare environment, emphasizing teamwork and professionalism. The PCA will work under the supervision of registered nurses and will be involved in various inpatient units, catering to diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Carry out delegated skills that are within the functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.
  • Support patient care in various inpatient units, including surgical, medical, and pediatric populations.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
  • Completion of 12 college credits or a high school diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
  • Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification from an approved program (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
