About the position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Mayo Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting nursing staff by assisting with both direct and indirect patient care tasks. This position is designed to enhance the patient care experience through a relationship-based care model, ensuring individualized attention and support under the supervision of registered nurses. The PCA will work in various inpatient units, contributing to a collaborative and respectful healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Carry out delegated skills that are within the functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.
• Support patient care in the 3rd Surgical unit, 7th Medical unit, and 9th Center unit.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
• Completion of 12 college credits or a high school diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
• Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
