This position involves providing both direct and indirect non-professional nursing care under the supervision of nursing or medical staff. The responsibilities primarily include performing essential duties such as cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting patient information, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, managing clerical duties, and ordering and receiving supplies. The role is vital in ensuring that patients receive the necessary care and support during their treatment process. Candidates interested in this position must demonstrate their competency by providing documentation of an 80% or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam. This requirement underscores the importance of understanding medical terminology in providing effective patient care. It is important to note that this is not a remote or work-from-home position, indicating that the Patient Care Assistant will be required to work on-site at the hospital, engaging directly with patients and the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient care activities under nursing or medical supervision.

  • Escort patients to various locations within the facility.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant degree or West Virginia C.N.A. license or PCT Certification required.
  • CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Glucoscan certification within 90 days of employment.
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred.
