About the position

The Patient Care Coordinator at Life Strategies, part of the Optum family, plays a crucial role in supporting clients and clinical staff within the healthcare delivery system. This position is integral to enhancing the patient experience by providing administrative support, managing appointments, and ensuring patient information is handled confidentially. The role emphasizes a holistic approach to healthcare, addressing the physical, mental, and social needs of patients.

Responsibilities

• Providing reception and clerical support in the clinic's front office
• Scheduling appointments, taking messages, and responding to the needs of patients and callers
• Assisting with new clients by explaining paperwork, verifying completion, and obtaining insurance information
• Scheduling new clients according to staff qualifications and insurance requirements, and notifying patients about appointments
• Processing payments for co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, self-pay, and missed appointment fees
• Securing patient information and maintaining patient confidentiality

Requirements

• HS Diploma/GED
• 1+ years of experience in an office environment, preferably in mental health or medical setting

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation - Excel, Outlook, Athena RMS (or other EHRs)
• Basic understanding of medical terminology
• Proven written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally
• Proven ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions in various forms
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks in a busy environment
