About the position

As a Patient Care Coordinator at Hanger, Inc., you will play a vital role in providing administrative support to patients, fellow employees, and referral sources. This position involves coordinating and managing front office activities to ensure a smooth and efficient operation. You will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, obtaining insurance authorizations, and creating and maintaining patient records. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you scan and file patient documents, ensuring that all information is complete and accurate. Additionally, you will manage incoming phone calls and provide financial counseling to patients, including posting over-the-counter payments. Daily document research on an electronic health/medical record system will also be part of your responsibilities. The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in an administrative position, demonstrating strong computer proficiency and excellent customer service skills. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with a diverse population, including clinicians, patients, and other staff members. Your ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, will be essential in building trusting relationships with patients and referral sources. This position requires a resourceful and flexible team player who can manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of detail orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for patient appointment scheduling
  • Obtaining insurance authorization
  • Creation of new patient charts and maintenance of patient records
  • Scanning and filing patient documents and ensuring complete and accurate information
  • Managing incoming phone calls
  • Providing financial counseling for patients and posting over the counter (OTC) payments
  • Daily document research on an electronic health/medical record system

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Less than 1 year of customer service, administration or related experience
  • A valid driver's license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with physically challenged individuals
  • Proficient computer skills including Windows based office technologies (ex. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to use all necessary office equipment, facsimile machines, calculator, postage machine, copiers, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of detail orientation
  • Proficiency with basic math and accounting skills
  • Ability to key 40 words per minute with accuracy preferred
