About the position

The Patient Care Tech (Cross Training) position at Regional One Health is a short-term, 12-week pilot initiative aimed at providing on-the-job training for internal employees. Under the supervision of healthcare management, the role involves delivering hygienic care and performing assigned tasks for patients based on their specific needs. This position is designed to enhance the skills of employees through coaching and mentoring while supporting patient care activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Nurse with new admissions by taking vital signs and obtaining weights.
  • Helps patients with gowns and placing telemetry leads as necessary.
  • Sets up patient rooms for new admissions.
  • Ambulates and/or transfers appropriate patients as needed.
  • Collects and accurately documents intake and output.
  • Assists with transporting patients as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness in the department by stocking and cleaning various areas including rooms and equipment.
  • Documents caregiver rounding, ADLs, intake and output, mouthcare, and vital signs as per unit specifications.
  • Answers call lights to assist patients as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period and kept current.
  • Competencies for this cohort must be demonstrated during the allotted orientation period.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous related experience preferred, but training is provided.
