About the position

The Patient Care Tech Extended Care PRN position at Intermountain Health involves providing clinical support to the patient care team in a residential living center. Responsibilities

  • Respond to patient care needs by answering call lights and assisting with hygiene care.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and communicate effectively with the care team.
  • Perform 12-lead EKG duties as per training and competency.
  • Apply, check, and document restraints as directed by the RN or physician.
  • Perform wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection.
  • Manage equipment and tube care, including JPs, hemovacs, and nasogastric tubes.
  • Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges following safe handling principles.
  • Order and maintain office and patient care supplies.
  • Perform unit secretary duties, including maintaining patient charts and responding to phone calls.
  • Assist physicians and RNs as directed.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of Montana.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years of previous experience in a health care setting.
