Patient Care Tech - Med/Surg (PRN)

About the position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) position at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center is a PRN role within the float pool, primarily supporting the Med/Surg, ICU, and ED departments. The PCT is responsible for assisting nursing staff in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, maintaining a safe and organized patient care environment, and performing various basic patient care services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff in providing patient care according to skills and training.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment.
• Perform delegated basic patient care services related to nursing functions and activities of daily living.
• Obtain and record patient information including vital signs and admissions data.
• Assist patients with daily living activities such as meals, bathing, and grooming.
• Support patient mobility including positioning and ambulating patients.
• Collect specimens as needed.
• Cross-train to unit clerk duties.
• Engage in evidence-based best practices to enhance patient experience.
• Comply with hospital policies and State Board of Nursing rules.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of hospital Med/Surg tech experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
• Flexibility with work assignments and willingness to cross-train.
