About the position

The Patient Care Technician C&A at Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network is responsible for providing temporary, short-term crisis respite to assist in stabilizing minor youth in crisis. This role involves continuous assessment of crisis needs, 24-hour supervision, and safety monitoring, while also implementing individualized recovery plans under clinical supervision. The primary goal is to support youth in crisis to prevent unnecessary inpatient hospitalization and promote recovery in community and home environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous supervision and safety monitoring for youth in crisis.
  • Implement individualized crisis recovery plans as directed by clinical staff.
  • Conduct therapeutic recreational interventions and facilitate skills training groups.
  • Deliver mentoring and coaching in personal hygiene, nutrition, and community integration.
  • Coordinate communication between department staff and community agencies.
  • Assist with school assignments and program development tasks.
  • Provide transportation for youth receiving crisis services.
  • Document clinical and administrative information accurately and consistently.
  • Monitor and document medication self-administration and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • AEMT Certification
  • Inpatient LVN
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Experience in an inpatient setting (preferred)
  • Experience in the mental health field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with youth in crisis (preferred)
  • Food preparation experience (preferred)
