About the position

The Patient Care Technician (CNA) Floatpool at Intermountain Health functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by licensed professionals. This role is essential in delivering basic patient care, collaborating with healthcare teams, and ensuring a safe and effective environment for patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care including toileting, bathing, linen changes, and comfort measures.
  • Assists with the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
  • Provides excellent customer service in response to patient and family requests.
  • Reports and records patient care findings and data in a timely manner, and reports changes in patient condition quickly.
  • May be responsible for telemetry duties based on the unit.
  • Functions as a patient care attendant by monitoring patients and addressing their care needs.
  • Collaborates with RNs and interdisciplinary team members for optimal patient care.
  • Performs non-nursing duties as delegated, such as cleaning, stocking, and clerical support.
  • Implements the plan of care as delegated and performs assigned duties within the Scope of Practice.

Requirements

  • Current CNA Certification and Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Completion of nursing assistant training program or fundamentals of nursing class with passing grade within the past two years, with C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.
  • Current enrollment in nursing school.
  • Basic computer skills.
